The Swedish Data Protection Authority is now the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection

On January 1st 2021 the Swedish Data Protection Authority changed its name to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Swe: IMY).

The Swedish Data Protection Authority has changed its name to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Swe: IMY). IMY has the same task as the Swedish Data Protection Authority, that is to protect citizens’ personal data, for example regarding health data, so that they are handled correctly and do not end up in the wrong hands. On the authority’s website, IMY’s Director General Lena Lindgren Schelin states that the new name more clearly signals the authority’s primary mission to protect personal integrity.
