This website is aimed at researchers who want to use data from Swedish registers in their research. Here you will find information on existing registers and guidance on accessing data.

Sweden’s national registers are unique in many respects. We have a long tradition of keeping population-based registers with personal data. We also have a system of unique personal identity numbers that allow data for a specific individual to be linked between different registers. This provides excellent sources for register-based research in Sweden.

The website registerforskning.se is operated by the Swedish Research Council and provides researchers with information on existing registers, as well as support during the process of register-based research. Here you can find information and guidance on each part of the process of identifying, requesting and using register data. The aim is to inform about the legal requirements, as well as the processes and activities linked to these requirements.
